Everything Starts with Drawing
Mini Masters (5-6 years Old)
Children will have fun learning using basic lines and shapes to create sophicated drawings. Our step by step approach and wide range of art materials keep students engaged and enjoying the creative process. They will discover the beauty of color, and learn how to add texture, depth, and details to their artwork. This class is not only tons of fun but also improves focus, motor skills, listening skills, and the ability to follow directions.
It is recommended that new students to schedule a brief meeting with Diana at 403-667-7020 prior to registration.

Learn to draw: The Basics of Drawing
(7 years & older)
“Learn to Draw” is the perfect art program for beginners and drawing enthusiasts. It offers sequential instruction with hands-on teaching methods, emphasizing observation skills and a variety of drawing techniques. Students begin to learn to “see how an artist sees” along with the visual vocabulary for line and contour drawings. From there, they are taught a variety of ways for drawing independently, embellishment techniques and how to add volume for a 3-dimensional look. Regular and consistent practice allows students to refine their mark making and explore a wide range of coloured media to bring their drawings to life. We provide a rich art education by teaching our students colour theory, art history and vocabulary.
This builds skill, expands creative problem-solving and increases confidence in the student’s own abilities. The breadth and depth of our program are unmatched. Students learn new skills each and every class that they can take home and continue to use independently in their daily lives, school and just for fun! The student’s sjetchbook becomes a tresured portfolio!

Drawing Fundamentals 1: Learn to draw
(7 years & older)
Our drawing program is designed to accommodate students at all stages of their artistic journey, from beginners to those with a pre-existing passion for drawing. No prior experience is necessary to join this class.
Through a sequential and progressive learning process, we teach the fundamentals of drawing step by step, allowing students to develop their skills and visual understanding gradually. Our curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including embellishment techniques, adding tone, and exploring colored media. We also emphasize the importance of embracing different styles, including realistic, abstract, and non-representational art, fostering creativity, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. Our goal is to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to continue drawing independently and express themselves artistically. Each student receives a personal sketchbook to practice their art skills, creating a cherished portfolio.

Drawing Fundamentals 2: Next Steps in Drawing
(8 years & Older)
Building upon a solid foundation of visual vocabulary and drawing techniques, our intermediate drawing course takes students to the next level by engaging them in more complex projects, deeper exploration of colour theory, abstraction, advanced shading techniques, gestural drawing, and drawing from life. This class is specifically designed to be engaging and challenging for older children and teens. With a focus on honing skills and pushing artistic boundaries, this course offers a stimulating environment for artistic growth.
While this course is ideally suited for students who have completed Aliki’s Drawing Fundamentals 1 or Beyond the Basics Summer Camp, those with previous drawing experience are also encouraged to inquire and join.

Drawing Fundamentals 3: Advanced Drawing
(9 years & older)
Prepare for immersive and rewarding projects with remarkable outcomes in our advanced drawing course! Students will encounter fresh challenges that push the boundaries of their drawing skills, such as landscape and perspective drawings, working with expanded media, incorporating tone through line and markers, and creating intricate pencil drawings. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to develop and refine their own unique artistic style while applying their knowledge and skills. Geared towards older children and teenagers, this class offers an engaging and stimulating environment.
While it is ideal for students who have attended two or more years of weekly art classes, new students with prior art experience who have not taken Aliki’s classes may also be considered upon inquiry.

Discover Watercolour Painting (9 years & older)
Discover the enchanting world of watercolour and unlock its true magic! Our classes aim to challenge and inspire young artists as they explore complex techniques and materials. We foster a creative environment that encourages students to trust their instincts, celebrate their uniqueness, and think critically about their artistic choices.
Under the guidance of a professional artist, students will delve into the properties of watercolour through hands-on experimentation. They will learn techniques such as colour mixing, layering, lifting, wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brushing, and masking. Our lessons feature engaging discussions on theory, ample demonstrations of techniques, and personalized mentorship.

... Let's Sculpt & Art Journal
Arts Combo: Sculpting + Art Journaling (9 Years & Older)
Our unique sculpting class offers students a comprehensive 3-dimensional art experience, combining design, drawing, construction, and painting. Through this course, students will explore a variety of sculpting processes and create 3-5 finished sculptures from scratch, utilizing professional artist techniques such as Giacometti armatures, free form sculptures, and Alebrije paper mache, etc. Additionally, students will be introduced to acrylic painting basics to enhance their finished art pieces. The class also incorporates a journaling component, incorporating mixed media techniques like student-made stamps and stencils, collage, and typography, allowing students to document their processes, thoughts, and emotions. While past drawing experience is beneficial, all students with an interest in sculpting are welcome to join.
