Acrylic Painting: Drop-In Instructional Workshops
Our beginner to intermediate painting classes delve deep into brush stroke techniques, colour mixing, and use of mediums while exploring various painting styles. Examine composition, design, and tonal values using different approaches to create challenging pieces.
Join us for a time to practice your art in a communal setting with a supportive and friendly group of peers. Our studio offers a lovely space with natural lighting in which to create and relax. Any experience and all levels are welcome!
This class allows students the option of bringing in their own projects. Subjects include landscape, portrait, still life, and abstract. Instruction, mentorship and feedback/critiques are available as required. This workshop series is sure to take your paintings to the next level. Attend weekly OR drop in when its convenient. Learn to Draw: The Basics for Beginners (Daytime)
Welcome to our 12-week series of drawing classes for adults with minimal, or no, drawing experience! Our classes are designed to teach you how to draw realistically using pen, pencil, and a splash of color.
We understand that drawing can be intimidating for beginners. Therefore, we have broken down the process of drawing into individual skills so that you can practice the fundamentals and put them all together. Our classes provide a balanced combination of theory, drawing exercises, and fun so you can learn and enjoy the process of drawing.
By the end of each class, you will have gained more confidence in your drawing abilities and say, “I CAN draw!” We look forward to seeing you in our classes and helping you unleash your creativity!
Tuesdays at 1 – 3 pm (12 week course)

Advanced (Daytime)
Trust in your ability to capture what you see, translate your vision and create your own composition in style and media of your choice. Geared toward students who have taken other adult AAH drawing classes, this is the perfect next step.
Based on almost 40 years of teaching and professional practice, Deborah Lawton will lead lessons in design, compositon and development of personal, orginal artwork. Each student will design and create unique and original artwork both from personal visual reference and life.
Basic studio supplies are available. Students are responsible for their preferred materials and will be determined on piece by piece basis.

Right brain drawing for adults & Teens (Evening)

Our comprehensive 14-week series will teach you everything you need to know about drawing from life, regardless of your previous experience. Through research-based and effective teaching methodology, you will develop strong drawing skills, enhance everyday problem-solving skills and other right brain functions.
In each lesson, you will learn new concepts, techniques and practice skills to complete a project such as drawing your own hand, parts of the studio, and even a self-portrait. The progress of our students speaks for itself, as seen in the photo provided.

Express yourself with Paint and Mixed Media
Mixed Media Sampler for Adults & Teens
Mixed media art is a term used to describe the bringing together of a multitude (“mix”) of different elements (“media”) in a variety of different ways. There are so many different art techniques and forms covered by this title: painting, drawing, intuitive collage, printmaking with Geli-plates, sculpting, journal making. There is also a wide range of media: paints, papers, cardboards, pencils, markers, images, glues, crayons and glaze … to name a few.
Delve into 3-D art such paper sculpture techniques and casting a relief sculpture in plaster. When you begin to look around you, everything becomes a potential material for adding into your mixed media art.
Beginners are welcome, drawing experience beneficial. Past students of Aliki’s Art House are welcome to return and build on their painting skills with new projects. Minimum of 5 students required to offer the class.

Watercolour Painting: Beyond the basics (Daytime)
Welcome to the intermediate watercolour class! During this course, you will continue to build upon your foundational techniques of watercolour while also exploring more complex subjects, styles, and processes. This will allow you to create imagery that is lively, vibrant, and authentic.
One of the main objectives of this class is to begin to design and create your own original composition. Studnets will also have the chance to experiment with different surfaces and mediums to expand your artistic horizons and discover new ways to create the effects you desire. This includes India ink, a gouache resist, and gel mediums.
Throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to draw inspiration from both the instructor-led lessons and your own personal projects.

Watercolour A to Z for beginners (Daytime)
In this class for beginners, learn about the unique properties of watercolour and practice basic techniques for discovering the joy of this amazing beautiful medium. Azzi’s amazing teaching style and great depth of knowledge and experience makes the classes very engaging and easy to follow. You’ll practice and complete small studies and a finished peice each day. You’ll leave inspired to continue practice all week along.
No painting experience is necessary. This class is perfect for the most intimidated artist.
