Mixed media art brings together a wide variety of materials and techniques to create unique, layered works of art. From painting and drawing to intuitive collage, Gelli plate printmaking, sculpture, and journal making, this class explores it all. You’ll work with paints, papers, pencils, markers, images, glues, and more—discovering that almost anything around you can become part of your creative process.

In this course, you will:

• Learn the art of Zentangle—a relaxing method of drawing structured patterns using simple lines and shapes.
• Create a Zendala, combining elemental strokes with color and shading.
• Explore 3D techniques, including paper sculpture and casting a relief sculpture in plaster (with optional Zentangle embellishments).
• Design and build a Traveler’s Journal—a customizable, refillable keepsake to capture your creativity, mementos, and thoughts.
• Expand your visual toolbox with Gelli printing, collage, intuitive collage, abstract painting, and hand-made stamps and stencils.

Beginners are welcome, and drawing experience is helpful but not required. Past Aliki’s Art House students will find plenty of new projects to build on their existing skills. Minimum 5 students required.
