We Believe Drawing Is

An Attainable Skill

The reason you may not know how to draw is that no one taught you how.

Did you know that only two percent of people are born with a natural talent to draw?

Everyone else can learn and discover their drawing ability. If you can sign your name, throw a ball or tie your shoelaces, you can learn how to draw.

What Makes Aliki’s Special

For over three decades, we have had the privilege of guiding hundreds of artists, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals of all ages. Throughout this journey, we've witnessed countless achievements, and we continue to be inspired by the creative growth of our community.

What sets us apart is our focus on teaching practical skills that make drawing an integral part of your everyday life. Our mission is to design opportunities where everyone can discover new techniques, gain valuable experience, and leave with new skills and greater confidence in their abilities.

Our bright, welcoming studio doubles as a gallery, where we regularly celebrate and exhibit the accomplishments of our students throughout the year. We’ve created a non-judgmental, safe space for everyone to explore, learn, and grow.

Our instructors are professional artists and trained educators who are passionate about art and teaching. They take genuine joy in seeing our students flourish, offering guidance and support every step of the way.

Our Teaching Philosophy

At Aliki’s Art House, we believe that everyone can learn to draw. Much like learning to play an instrument, drawing is a teachable skill that can be developed through guided practice and effective instruction.

Our unique 7-Step System, created by Aliki, is a progressive, step-by-step instructional program that builds confidence and artistic self-esteem as students master foundational drawing techniques. As students become more comfortable with the process, they gain the freedom to express their creativity in new and exciting ways.

We understand that society often views realistic drawing as the ultimate measure of artistic talent. While learning to draw realistically can help build artistic confidence, we also encourage students to explore abstract, non-representational, and other styles. This helps students discover that art is not limited to realism and that there is beauty and creativity in all forms of expression.

Our philosophy is centered around debunking myths, embracing mistakes, and focusing on the joy of the creative process. We provide a balanced approach in our classes, workshops, and camps — offering structure for skill development while also allowing room for individuality and self-expression.

In addition to drawing techniques, we provide a well-rounded education in colour theory, art history, and artistic vocabulary, helping our students develop a deeper understanding of art as a whole. Aliki’s Art House is a space of quiet contemplation and personal growth, where students can experience the creative potential of their minds and achieve success in their artistic journey.

FAQS

What Makes Your Teaching Method Unique?

We can teach ANYONE how to draw in as little as a day.

Aliki's 7-step system is a sequential process of teaching the basic fundamental skills of drawing as a series of steps.  We define concepts and vocabulary, explain the process and demonstrate how to practice techniques succeed while providing feedback along the way.  Our methodology has been refined and proven successful for more than three decades.

What Can I Do At Home To Help My Child Learn to Draw?

One of the best things you can do is encourage your child to use a visual reference when drawing.

Is It Possible To Learn How To Be An Artist, Even Without A Natural Talent?

Yes, it is definitely possible to learn to be an artist! While some people may have a natural inclination or talent for art, becoming an artist is largely a matter of practice, learning, and developing skills. Talent is optional – interest is an asset! Drawing classes will get one started on an artistic and creative path.

My Kids Don’t Show Much Interest In Art And I’m Not Sure If They Are Talented Enough To Take Classes. Any Suggestions?

Many children may not show an interest in art simply because they haven't been exposed to the techniques and skills needed to create. Art education plays a crucial role in developing children's confidence and abilities. When children are taught specific drawing skills, such as understanding shapes, proportions, and shading, they gain the tools they need to express themselves. This technical knowledge can boost their confidence and encourage them to explore their creativity.

Here's What Everyone's Saying ...
