Art Mindfulness for Adults ~ Off site

Join us on Friday afternoons, for an invitation to relax, connect to self and others through community and like-minded people. We will explore how art making (no art experienced needed) combined with mindfulness and guided dialogue can allow us to express our thoughts and feelings in an emotionally safe environment and how creating art can actually make you feel better! Please note, this is not a technique/skills based art class (eg: learning how to draw or paint), we simply use art materials to express ourselves.

Introduction to cyanotype

Cyanotype is an easy photographic printing process that uses sunshine to aid in the creation of beautiful blue coloured prints. By arranging items onto paper prepared with a photo emulsion and then exposed to sunlight, you will create 3 or 4 unique cyanotype images. By the end of the workshop, one of your prints will become a completed piece of art ready to display in your home!

Cyanotype artists will often use flowers, leaves, and other plant life forms to create their compositions. Another popular object of choice is glass. Its transparent quality can produce many different tones of blue, which adds a marvelous depth and richness to the image. Prepare to be amazed by this magical process!

Come prepared with an open mind and willingness to explore a variety of additional materials including vinegar, turmeric, dish soap, baking soda, and more.
