Summer 2018 regsitration coming soon!
We are very excited to once again be offering this one-of-a-kind summer sculpting camp for children & teens. Take your creativity to the next level ... move it off the page and bring it to life! Whether a student is skilled at sculpture already or new to the 3-D world, this class will have your child creating with confidence in no time.
This camp introduces students to a variety of sculpting techniques including papier mache, armature figure and relief sculpture. Papier mache is any three-dimensional work of art that is usually made using clay, metal, wood paper mache or found objects. It may be carved, molded, constructed or cast. In art, an armature is an underlying, unseen, supporting component (usually of wood or metal) for something else. Armatures are useful in sculpture, lost-wax casting and even stop-motion animation puppets to help make the initial model three-dimensional. Relief is a sculptural technique. The term comes from the Latin verb levi, to raise. To create a sculpture in relief is to give the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background plane.
Please note that this is not a craft camp. The knowledge gained during the week will truly amaze your child and you. Students will be taught to sculpt the way a professional artist would sculpt.

Arts Combo (painting, journaling & sculpting too!)
Budding artists will explore, play, and express themselves in so many ways: art journaling, abstract acrylic painting and sculpting! This camp is the perfect opportunity for children and teend to explore the process of painting and sculpting through hands-on learning. Painting projects will focus on abstract techniques, color and composition. Students will create a variety of art journal projects, paintings and a sculpture. Professional art techniques such drawing, painting, printmaking, and other embellishments will be demonstrated. Mixed-media art is a wonderful process of drawing, collaging, painting and writing using a variety of media.
Gem Journaling, as we like to call it at Aliki's, allow you to create precious gems of art as a record of your thoughts, experiences, dreams, etc to be treasured forever. Art journaling is simply doing art and writing in a bound journal, on loose paper, even on a cardboard box. It is a wonderful process of drawing, collaging, and writing using mixed media. Skills learned in this camp are easily transferable to personal creative projects and school work. Studies show that studying via a combination of drawing and writing helps students retain concepts better. This camp is great for teens. They will discover the magic of art as self expression while learning key elements and principles of art.
Drawing experience beneficial. Our Basics of Drawing Camp or Drawing Fundamentals classes is a great foundation. Please call (403.667.7020) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule a studio appointment.
