Aliki's Online in the Summertime

The Perfect Staycation Activity

We have a history of offering the finest summer art camps for children in NW Calgary since 1991. This year, we understand there is so much uncertainty during these unprecedented times related to COVID-19 and so we’re doing things a little bit differently.

Because staying home doesn’t mean staying still or being alone, we are extending our offerings to older children, teens, and adults through Aliki’s Online to connect with you where-ever you are. We are committed to creating exceptional summer art experiences for adults and children alike, while we stay safe and close to home.

  • Online Camps are limited to 6 students
  • We are using Google Meet platform. It is best to use Google Chrome and be sure you can open the Google Meet App
  • All online camps are live-streamed from the studio with 2 video feeds (presentation view and overhead view) for an authentic experience
  • On the spot, interactive feedback is available during class plus online feedback is provided by the artist instructor
  • Students may use their own materials, but please contact us to be sure you have all the necessary supplies including a variety of art papers

Plein Air Landscape Sketching Workshops

Let’s go outside! This class focuses on transitioning between drawing from photographs and drawing from life, using the expressive landscape as our muse. On Tuesday evenings, we will have an online class to talk about the basics of a landscape subject and technique, then practice step-by-step, referencing photographs and other artist’s approaches. On Thursdays that same week, we will venture outdoors, meeting in Confedeeration Park to capture the landscape in person using the same practiced techniques. Some drawing experience and a sense of adventure are necessary.
Please note: Physical distancing will need to be respected during outdoor class to ensure everyone’s safety. A mask may be required by students and the instructor when physical distancing is not ideal. Also note that outdoor class may be relocated at the studio due to inclement weather.
